Although they have played various styles of music, they are best known as pioneers of a minimalistic, long and repetitive form of heavy music known as drone. To a lesser extent their sound is referred to as doom metal. Earth, however, have little to do with metal in their current sound. Their early albums could be seen as a variation of the experimental doom-influenced metal of The Melvins.This show is for ages 18 and up. Previously, theyâd worked together in sludge-crust band "the unicorns" and, after some time apart, met up in L.A. on the set of Woody Allenâs film "Melinda Melinda Melinda". Unexpectedly, theyâd both been separately cast in the pivotal "restaurant" scene, in small "walk-on" roles opposite each other. Their fierce competitive spirits kept the two from getting too close, but once the final cut of the film surfaced and they found both of their parts had been left on the cutting room floor, their dormant friendship had been rekindled, cloaked in mutual pity and despondency. After much deliberation, they agreed to return to the snowy climes of Montreal and jump headfirst into the often heartbreaking world of music.This show is for ages 18 and up. His song Electric Love Letter was recently number 5 on the Rolling Stone editor's top ten picks. The song was also in the movie Waitress. Their lyrics were a raucous, over-the-top celebration of all the attendant evils of rock & roll -- sex, booze, drugs, Satan, and whatever other vices the band could think of, all glorified with tongue planted firmly in cheek.
